MONICA VELA Obituary
Monica was a member of Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church, Vice Regent for the Catholic Daughters of America, member of the Guadalupanas, member of the Divine Mercy Cenacle Group, A.C.T.S. member, Eucharistic Minister, C.C.E. Volunteer and a Volunteer with the Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament. She was employed with the Cameron County Isla Blanca Park for 25 years and a coordinator for the Texas Adopt-A-Beach Program with the Texas Land Office for 23 years. She enjoyed making rosaries for the CCE children and A.C.T.S. Retreat. She lived to ride with the Biker Friends and loved to be by the sea. Monica was the most loving, caring selfless person you could ever meet. She would give the shirt off her back to anyone who needed it. Her faith kept her strong as she fought her battle with her illness until her final day. She will be missed dearly by many.
She was preceded in death by father, Francisco Cisneros, Sr. and mother Monica O. Cisneros; sister, Carmen C. (Domingo) Camacho; and two brothers: Ramon O.(Alberta) Cisneros and Refugio O.(Viola) Cisneros.
Surviving Monica is her husband, Pedro Vela, Sr; two children: Pedro Vela, Jr and Paul (Bianca) Vela; eight grandchildren: Elizabeth Vela, Tori Vela, Alia Vela, Amy Vela, Adrian Vela, Brayden Vela, Skalor Davidson Vela, and Terry Rivera; two great-grandchildren : Javier Reyes and Adela Analisa Reyes; and two brothers: Francisco (Gloria) Cisneros, Jr. and Pascual (Suzana) Cisneros.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, Aug. 18, 2015 from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. at Thomae-Garza Funeral Home in San Benito, Texas. Visitation will continue from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., with a holy rosary at 7 p.m., at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church, 705 S. Longoria St in Port Isabel, Texas.
A funeral mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 19, 2015 at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Port Isabel City Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers will be the Biker Friends.
