Patricia L. Soyka, 88, of Susquehanna, Pa., died peacefully on Dec. 16, 2012.|
She was preceded in death by her parents, Rodney D. and Lucille F. Williams; a son, Michael J. Soyka, and her husband, Daniel E. Soyka.
She is survived by a son, Rodney D. (Barbara) Soyka; grandchildren, Christopher J. Soyka (Amanda Burritt), Brittany Simmons (Nicholas Polhamus), Michael Hunter, and several great-grandchildren.
A native of Milwaukee, Wis., Mrs. Soyka was a graduate of Marquette University with a Bachelor of Journalism degree.
She spent 30 years as a public relations specialist in the field of social studies, 27 of them in New York City.
She is the author of "Widening Horizons - The Teaching Aspect of Homemaker Service"; "Tuesday's ChildHelp for Handicapped Children" and "Unlocking Human Resources - A Career in Social Work."
Patricia and her husband moved from New York City to Brownsville, Texas in 1978.
She taught at Villa Maria High School, Brownsville, Texas, and University Preparatory School, Harlingen, Texas.
She was employed by BISD before moving to Windsor, N.Y., to be with her family.
The Soyka family wishes to extend their deepest gratitude to Amy Olmstead of the Tender Touch Personal Care Home, Susquehanna, Pa., for her loving care of Pat and for helping make her final years full of peace and affection.
A Memorial Mass will be offered at a later date.
Arrangements are by Aegis Cremation & Funeral Services, 196 Clinton St., Binghamton, New York.
