Ruben V. Garcia Sr., 67, of Spring Branch, TX., entered into eternal rest on the morning of April 1, 2013.
Ruben was born Jan. 19, 1946, in Brownsville, TX to Luis and Enriqueta Garcia.
Ruben served in the Army during the Vietnam Conflict with the 169th Engineer Batallion from 1965 to 1967. He met his beautiful bride, Maria Ester Garcia, after his tour and they married on Dec. 5, 1970 in Brownsville, TX.
In 1968, Ruben began a long career in the Rio Grande Valley Gas Company. He worked for 25 years until his retirement in 1993. Ruben was an avid hunter and fisherman and he loved to spend time with his family and friends. Ruben was an active member of St. Thomas the Apostal Catholic Church in Canyon, Lake, TX.
He is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Maria Ester Garcia; along with three children, Liza and Angel Mireles of San Antonio, TX; Ruben and Samantha Garcia Jr., of San Antonio, TX; Michelle Garcia Pena of New Braunfels, TX; four grandchildren, Jade and Seth Garcia and Quentin and Emma Peña; seven siblings; Luis Garcia Jr., Enrique Garcia, Jaime Garcia, Celia Garcia, Margarita Hernandez, Olivia Maldonado, Elida Mosqueda; and many loving nieces, nephews and relatives.
Ruben was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Eudocio, Noe and Fidel Garcia.
Visitation will be held from 1 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Thurday, April 4th, 2013, and from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Friday, April 5th, 2013, with a Holy Rosary at 7 p.m. at Funeraria Del Angel Buena Vista.
A Funeral Mass will take place at 10 a.m. at St. Luke Catholic Church 2800 Rockwell on Saturday, April 6th, 2013, with a committal service to Roselawn Memorial Gardens.
