Juan Barrientes Jr., 66, of Bryan, Ohio, passed away in his home on Aug. 24, 2013.|
Juan attended Brownsville High School in Brownsville, Texas, and joined the U.S. Army in 1967. He served two tours in Vietnam and was awarded three Purple Heart awards for injuries he received in combat. Juan was a member of the Bryan VFW Post 2489 and AmVets Post 54.
He enjoyed life through music. He was a musician with many talents and never skipped a beat. Juan not only played, but taught others the art of music. The Staffs was the band most people would remember him by. If he wasn't singing, he was cooking. He loved to experiment in the kitchen.
Juan Barrientes Jr. was born Sept. 17, 1946, in Brownsville, Texas, the son of Juan and Maria (Pineda) Barrientes Sr.
He is survived by his daughter, Monica B. (Carlos) Garcia-Moreno, of Brownsville, Texas; grandchildren, Samantha, Samuel, Maria Elena, Annabelle Lee and Carlos Alberto Moreno II, all of Brownsville, Texas; sisters, Vicki (Melvin) Palmerton and Delia Cisneros, both of Bryan, Ohio; nieces and nephews, Melvin D. Palmerton, Jason A. (Liz) Cisneros and Jennifer (Cory) Artz; and great-nieces and great-nephews, Matthew, Rylee, Brady, Aubry, Gage and Hunter.
He also leaves many family members in Bryan, Ohio, and Brownsville, Texas, that will miss him.
Visitation for Juan Barrientes Jr. will be held from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. with a Proclamation presented by State Representative Rene Oliveira at 6:45 p.m.
VFW Post 2035 will recite the eulogy and conduct a presentation under the command of Luis Lucio at 7 p.m.
The Holy Rosary recitation will take place at 7:30 p.m. at Funeraria Del Angel Buena Vista on Saturday, Sept. 21, 2013.
The family of Juan Barrientes Jr. would recommend memorial donations in his honor to be directed to the Williams County Veterans Memorial Building.
