Betty Dixon Withers, 84, of Brownsville went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, April 2, 2014, at Valley Baptist Medical Center in Brownsville.|
She was born on May 11, 1929, in Meridian, Mississippi.
She was a graduate of Brownsville High School and Mary Hardin Baylor. She was a teacher for numerous years in public schools and at Villa Maria. She also taught art at Texas Southmost College. She enjoyed gardening and had a passion for abstract and still life painting.
Betty was a past member of the Brownsville Art League. Her art had been exhibited throughout the valley over the years and had won several art competitions.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Amis Luther and Sarah Dixon Williamson, and a brother; Amis Luther Williamson, Jr.
Left to eternally cherish her memories are her Sons: Garrett Evan Withers, Stephen (Elizabeth) Dixon Withers and Michael (Patti) Heard Withers. Her grandchildren; Nate Withers, Andrew Dixon Withers, Nathan Lee Withers, Joanna Elizabeth Withers, and Sarah Grace Withers. Her nieces; Ann Williamson, and Carolyn Timmons. Her great grandson; Andrew Dixon Withers Jr.
A visitation will be held from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Monday April 7, 2014, at Garza Memorial Funeral Home Chapel.
A private gravesite service will be held on Tuesday.
