Hortencia P. Garza, 92, entered into eternal rest, on Sunday, April 21, 2013, at Brownsville Nursing and Rehab Center, in Brownsville, Texas.
Hortencia was born on June 12, 1920, in Brownsville to Jose and Josefina Perez.
She loved singing and taking care of her grandchildren.
Mrs. Garza is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Alberto S. Garza; two daughters, Lydia Garza of Brownsville and Sylvia G. Chavez of Florida; three brothers, Jose Perez, Juan Perez and Mariano Nenque.
Hortencia is survived by five daughters, Alicia Turnbaugh and Estela Garza of Corpus Christi, Mary Jo (Luis) Champion and Ana (Eddie) Leal of Houston, and Irma (Ramiro) Garcia of Brownsville; 10 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday, April 25, 2013, with a Holy Rosary at 7 p.m. at Funeraria Del Angel Buena Vista.
Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, April 26, 2013, at St. Luke's Catholic Church, 2800 Rockwell, in Brownsville, Texas, with a committal service to Roselawn Memorial Gardens.
Serving as pallbearers will be Luis Champion, Michael Turnbaugh, Jaime D. Garcia, Rolando D. Garcia, Edward Leal Jr. and Jose A. Leal.
