Shirley Tyner Obituary

Shirley Ann Tyner, 79, of Ocean Isle Beach, died Thursday, Sept. 20, 2012, in New Hanover Regional Medical Center in Wilmington.
Mrs. Tyner was born April 12, 1933, in Fayetteville, to the late Clinton and Mattie Bell Smith.
Mrs. Tyner was a member of Calvary Baptist Church where she served as a deacon and Sunday school director.
Surviving are her husband of 56 years, Marshall E. Tyner Sr.; a son, Marshall E. Tyner Jr. and his wife Jennifer of Fort Mill, S.C.; a daughter, Amy Gail Tyner and fiancé Ty Moore of Shallotte; and a sister, Polly Newton of Fort Walton Beach, Fla.
Funeral services were at 3 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 23, in the Brunswick Funeral Service Chapel by the Dr. Samuel Murphy. Burial followed in Brunswick Memorial Gardens.
The family received friends an hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Calvary Baptist Church, 623 Village Road SW, Shallotte, NC 28470.
Casketbearers were the deacons of Calvary Baptist Church.
