David Adkinson Shadday, 74, of Southport, died Saturday, Nov. 17, 2012, at Duke University Medical Center in Durham.
He was born in Rome, Ga., on Feb. 8, 1938, and was the son of the late Frank A. and Maxine Gamble Shadday.
He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran.
He is survived by his son, Brad Shadday of Rome, Ga; two grandchildren; his brother, Dan Shadday of Rome, Ga.; a nephew; a niece; and several great-newphews and great-nieces.
A memorial service will be at 3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 24, 2012, at Bald Head Island Chapel with Jim Brown officiating.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be made to the Bald Head Island Chapel, P.O. Box 3035, Bald Head Island, NC 28461.
