Arthur Edward "Art" Paige, 90, of Calabash, a Marine Corps veteran of World War II
and Korea, died Friday, Dec. 21, 2012, in the Lower Cape Fear Hospice Care Center, Brunswick House.
He was born in Waterbury, Conn., on April 28, 1922, a son of the late Vincent S. and Agnes Laukaite Puodziunas. After high school he enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps
and retired in 1970, having served during Word War II and the Korean Conflict
. He retired from the service in 1960 before working for the Army as a civilian signal officer.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Alice Rose Paige, and his second wife, Janet Deaver.
Survivors include his wife, Brenda Arnold Paige; two daughters, Nancy Ryan of Massachusetts, and Susan Russell of Virginia; a son, Arthur E. Paige II of Virginia; two grandsons; three great-grandchildren, numerous step-children; step-grandchildren; and step-great-grandchildren.
Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 15, at the Calabash VFW
Post 7288, 900 Carter Drive in Calabash.
Inurnment will be at 1 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 17, at Quantico National Cemetery with military honors in Quantico, Va. The family asks any memorial contributions be made to the Wounded Warriors Project online or to Lower Cape Fear Hospice and LifeCareCenter in Bolivia.
