Doris Mae Bilz, of Plantation Village in Wilmington, passed away Thursday, March 13, 2014.
Doris was preceded in death by her first husband, James R. Dudley, who passed in 1990. They were married for 38 years, residing in New York City, Connecticut, Chicago, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania before retiring to Sunset Beach in 1988.
Doris was born June 19, 1930, in Dover, Del., to parents Ralph S. Densmore and Sarah Fisher. Her younger brother Ralph passed in 2006. She graduated from Wesley Junior College with an Associates Degree in 1949.
An avid gardener, Doris enjoyed golfing, playing bridge, reading and lounging on the beach. After raising her children, Doris taught pre-school in Fayson Lakes, N.J., and earned her real estate license in Camp Hill, Pa.
Her only nemesis in life ... the dreaded three-foot putt! Doris will be greatly missed.
Doris is survived by her loving husband of 13 years, Eugene F. Bilz of Wilmington; her three children, Diana L. Arnold of Sussex, N.J., James R. Dudley Jr. of Parker, Colo., and Craig R. Dudley of Littleton, Colo.; and eight grandchildren, Sarah DeGennaro, Jessica and Katie Arnold, J.J., Josh and Hallie Dudley, and Jack and Olivia Dudley.
A Celebration of Her Life will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, April 12, at Plantation Village, 1200 Porters Neck Road in Wilmington.
