Mr. Dwight Lyman French, 80, of Sea Trail Plantation in Sunset Beach, died Friday, Jan. 25, 2013, in Brunswick Novant Medical Center.
Born in Everett, Mass., on Oct. 9, 1932, he was the son of the late William French and Emily Vokey French.
He was the general minister for the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Pennsylvania and retired after 30 years. He was honored with a doctor of divinity degree from Bethany College in West Virginia.
After moving to Sea Trail Plantation, he enjoyed golf and was a former president of the Sea Trail Men's Golf Association.
Dwight also enjoyed bicycle riding and in later years riding with his canine friend Molly.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Ruth Dale and Sharon Lundblad.
Surviving are his loving wife of 53 years, Ruth J. French; two sons, Marc French and wife Amy of Tabernacle, N.J., and John Steven French of Dimondale, Mich.; and his daughter, Rebekah Marie French.
Memorial services were at 4 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 29, in the chapel of Brunswick Funeral Service, Shallotte.
