Eva Hewett Gore, 87, of Ocean Isle Beach, died Friday, May 23, 2014, at the SECU Hospice House of Brunswick.
Born Sept. 26, 1926, in Brunswick County, she was a daughter of the late Sidney R. and Evy Fulford Hewett. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Carl A. Hewett.
She was a longtime member of Jennies Branch Baptist Church where she was the pianist and Sunday school teacher, and wore many other hats for a number of years. She also volunteered at Autumn Care Nursing Home for more than 20 years.
Surviving are her husband, John Howard Gore; three daughters, Dianne Williams (Easton), of Fayetteville, Ga., Marcia Smith of Ash, and Anita Moore (Wayne), of Henderson; son, Thurston Gore (Beth), of Newport News, Va.; brother, Roy D. Hewett (Mary), of Morgantown, W. Va.; sister, Lou Ellen Midgett of Marietta, Ga.; seven grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Linda Loveless of Wilmington; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were conducted at 4 p.m. Sunday, May 25, at Jennies Branch Baptist Church by the Rev. Robbie Stephens.
Visitation was prior to the service at the church.
Burial followed in the church cemetery.
