Mrs. Fannie Mae Pennell, 88, of Holden Beach, died Monday, Oct. 8, 2012, at her residence.
Mrs. Pennell was born in Mecklenburg County on Dec.16, 1923, and was the daughter of the late Joseph Robert Armstrong and Fannie White Armstrong.
She was a devoted member of Mount Pisgah Baptist Church where served on the kitchen committee for many years. She was a member of the Holden Beach Beautification Club since 1990.
She is survived by her husband, Shuford Pennell of the home; two sons, Vann Pennell and wife Cathy of Southport, and Eddie Pennell and wife Cassie of Clinton; two grandsons, Chad Pennell and Brett Pennell; and granddaughter, Sydney Pennell.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 11, at Mount Pisgah Baptist Church with the Rev. Timothy Lynch officiating. Burial will follow at 3 p.m. at the Raeford Cemetery in Raeford.
Pallbearers will be Chad Pennell, Brett Pennell, Lloyd Tucker, Larry Edwards, Dean Hall and Bob Boone.
Honorary pallbearers will be, Faye Tucker, Bennie Hall, Rachel Boone and Jane Edwards.
The family will receive friends at the home, 129 High Point Street, Holden Beach.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Lower Cape Fear Hospice C/O SECU Brunswick Facility, 955 Mercy Lane, Bolivia, NC 28422.
The family would like to give a special thanks to her caregiver Mrs. Angie White for the excellent care given to Fannie for the past two years.
