James C. "Jim" O'Shea, 84, of Ocean Isle Beach, formerly of East Meadow, Long Island, N.Y. died Saturday, May 3, 2014.
Born in Bronx, N.Y., Oct. 19, 1929, he was a son of the late Patrick and Delia Garaday O'Shea.
He was a U.S. Army
veteran of the Korean War
and a retired police officer
for the Nassau County Police Department after 23 years of service with a nickname "The General." He was a member of St. Brendan The Navigator Roman Catholic Church, where he was an active usher plus many other church activitites.
Surviving are his wife, Florence "Flo" Mansfield O'Shea of the home; two brothers, Dennis Shea (Marie) of Shallotte, Thomas O'Shea (Helen) of Bayshore, N.Y.; a sister, Catherine Gronroos of Hicksville, N.Y.; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Daniel, John and Joseph O'Shea, and a sister, Margaret Livingston.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 9:45 a.m. Friday, May 9, in St. Raphael Roman Catholic Church.
Burial will be in the Holy Rood Cemetery, Westbury, Long Island, N.Y.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, May 8, at Charles J. O'Shea Funeral Home, 603 Wantagh Ave., Wantagh, N.Y.
