James Ralph Tripp Sr.

James Ralph Tripp Sr., 76, died Saturday, July 19, 2014, at Columbus Regional Medical Center in Whiteville.
Born in Brunswick County, he was the son of the late O.Z. and Grace Hines Tripp.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Leona B. Tripp of Ash, two sons, James Ralph "J.R." Tripp Jr. of Ash and Harold "Dave" Tripp and wife, Julia, of Ash; two daughters, Jane Lynn Barnes and husband, David, of Supply and Holly Dean Fulwood of Calabash; a brother, Bill Tripp of Ash; four sisters, Faye Simmons, Pat Long, Brenda Cribb and Annie McKeithan, all of Ash; and 11 grandchildren, Gavin Evans, Kala Bartley, Kinsey Bartley, Maddie Fulwood, John Fulwood, Isaac Barnes, Brice Tripp, Eli Tripp, Bailey Tripp, Olivia Grace Tripp and Ean Tripp.
James was a lifelong member of Friendship Baptist Church where he served as a standing deacon. He dearly loved his church family. He was a mason of Lodge No. 727 in Shallotte.
James will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
Services were conducted by two of the former pastors and special friends, the Revs. Tommy Fields and Bob Rea, at 3 p.m. Tuesday, July 22, at Friendship Baptist Church. Burial followed in Azar Smith Cemetery, Ash.
Visitation was from 1:30 to 3 p.m. before services at the church.
