Jarvis Everette Cook, 68, of Supply, died Sunday, June 15, 2014, at New Hanover Regional Medical Center in Wilmington.
Mr. Cook was born June 11, 1946, in Carthage, son of the late Charlie and Hazel Campbell Cook.
He had worked as a deputy with the Randolph County Sheriff's Office from 1967 to 1975. Later, he retired after 21 years from Strider Auto as a salesman in Asheboro.
Surviving are his wife, Sandra Ward Cook; two sons, Derrick Smith of Jonesboro, Tenn., and Jeff Cook and wife, Kellie, of Asheboro; daughter, Tonia Barton and husband, Gary, of Asheboro; four grandchildren; and his devoted Boston terrier, "Scooter."
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 19, at Sharon United Methodist Church by the Rev. Eddie Hill. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Visitation is scheduled from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, June 18, at the church.
Casketbearers will be Jay Hamer, Barry Cook, Dean Draughn, James Bell, Jim Whitehead, Don Downs, Hayden Miller and Randy Riggs.
Honorary casketbearers will be Ervin Simmons, Benny Ludlum, Chester Cash, Ken White, Tommy Smith, Ray Bowman and the Saints Alive Sunday School Class.
