John Myers

John Eldridge Myers, 90, of Shallotte, died Saturday, June 1, 2013.
Born on Dec. 16, 1922, he was one of 17 children born to the late Thomas Everett and Elizabeth Joyce Myers.
He earned a BCS Degree from Benjamin Franklin University and served in the U.S. Navy as a Pharmacist's Mate First Class during World War II in the Philippine Islands and Naval Hospital, Bethesda, Md.
John retired from IBM after 38 years of service.
He was a member of the Sudan Shriners, South Brunswick Islands Shrine Club, Shallotte Masonic Lodge 727, Calabash Elks Lodge, American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Surviving are his wife, Vivian June Myers; his daughter, Judy Myers, of Bolivia; sisters, Peggy Shreve and husband, Bill; Mickey Reed; Geraldine Scott and husband, Curtis, all of Eden; a brother, Buddy Joe Myers and wife, Pat, of Ellisboro; and his faithful canine companion, Chelsea.
No local services are planned. An inurnment will be conducted at a later date in his hometown of Mayodan.
