Joseph Richard "Joe" Clunk(1955 - 2013)

Joseph "Joe" Richard Clunk, 58, of Southport, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, Oct. 11, 2013, in the SECU Hospice House of Brunswick.
Joe was born Sept. 29, 1955, in Southport, the son of Shirley McKeithan Clunk.
Joe was lovingly raised at the "Yacht Basin" by his mother and grandmother. Joe attended Southport High School. Everywhere Joe lived and worked, he always met a new "family" of friends whether it was running the rides at Yaupon Beach, building the golf course on BHI or working in Texas at Sienna Plantation Development. The two years in Texas was the only time Joe ever lived away from Brunswick County. He also worked and retired from Pfizer in Southport and Majestic Landscape & Design, which he operated with his wife.
After Joe accepted the Lord as his personal savior in 1988, he attended Joy Assembly in Southport and their present place of worship, Eastside Fellowship in Shallotte.
Joe is survived by his wife of 28 years, Sharon Troll Clunk; mother, Shirley McKeithan Clunk: son, Eric Saunders; sister, Rachel Clunk Sorrels; two nephews, Asa and Aidan Sorrels; niece, Morgan Crislip, who was the apple of his eye; special father-in-law, Andy Troll; brother-in-law, Larry Troll (Gina); and nephews, Challen, Jeb and Larry; and very special friends, Paul and Carolyn Nilson of Monroe, Ga., who led Joe to the Lord in 1988. Being from Southport (Brunswick County), he had many relatives and close friends and a lot of "adopted parents and siblings."
He is preceded in death by his grandmother, Bertha McKeithan; uncle, Gene McKeithan; and "Brother," Jimmy Clunk.
The family received friends Sunday, Oct. 13, at Peacock - Newnam White Funeral Service in Southport.
A celebration of Joe's life was Monday, Oct. 14, at 2 p.m. at Eastside Fellowship (Purple Church), in Shallotte, where the Rev. Bobby Causey presided.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests you consider making a memorial gift to SECU Hospice House, 955 Mercy Lane, Bolivia, NC 28422, to honor Joe and to "Pay Forward" the gift of blessing others, as this was a passion in his heart.
