Mrs. Maggie Earline "Pet" Bellamy, 83, of the Shallotte Point Community, died Wednesday, June 18, 2014, at SECU Hospice House of Brunswick.
She was born in Ash, Oct. 29, 1930, and was the daughter of the late Newman Martin Mintz and Etta Phillips Mintz. She was wife of the late Palmer Bellamy and was also preceded in death by son, Terry Bellamy; granddaughter, Tiffany Bellamy; and siblings, Lindsey Mintz, Martin Mintz, Buddy Mintz and Carlene Piver.
Mrs. Bellamy was given her nickname "Pet" by her parents as a child. She always joked that she could go into businesses that allowed pets. She enjoyed having a big garden and sewing and crocheting.
She is survived by two children, Eddie Bellamy of Shallotte and Tammy B. Munoz, also of Shallotte; six grandchildren, Tina Zimmerman (Paul), of Summerville, S.C., Annie Bonifacio (Marcelino), of Supply, Catherine Bellamy of Supply, Patricia Bellamy of Columbia, S.C., Crystal Munoz (Ervin), of Sunset Beach and Angela Munoz of Shallotte; 12 great-grandchildren; six sisters, Mary Mintz, Naomi Peschau, Jean Smith (Dale) all of Ash, Christine Hewett (Ray) of Ocean Isle Beach, Betty Bellamy (Bunky), of Shallotte and Barbara King (Billy Wayne) of Wilmington.
Funeral Services were at 3 p.m. Sunday, June 22, at Trinity Freewill Baptist Church in Ash, with the Revs. Bobby Causey and Donna Webb officiating. Burial followed in the Sabbath Home Baptist Church Cemetery of Holden Beach.
Pallbearers were Steve Parrish, Steven Parrish, Jerry King, Huey Bellamy, Alan Bellamy and James Baker.
The family received friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday evening at White Funeral Service in Shallotte and other times at the home of her son, Eddie Bellamy.
