Mrs. Margaret Ann Roach Long-Hunter, 82, of Wilmington, died Wednesday, May 8, 2013, in Huntsville, Ala.
Mrs. Hunter was born in Brunswick County on April 23, 1931, and was the daughter of the late William S. and Velma Robinson Roach. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Allen B. Long; her second husband, Tom Hunter; and two children, Gloria Long Rountree and Ronald Allen Long.
She was a member of Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church. She was also a member of the Red Hat Society. She was also a member of the Iota Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority for 49 years and was about to receive her 50-year pin. In June of this year she would have received her Torch Bearer pin.
She was employed for many years with the Boy Scouts of America.
Maragret Ann lived and loved life to the fullest. She was a daughter, wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, as well as a wonderful friend to all those she knew.
She is survived by a special daughter, Pat Molett of Wilmington; a brother, Alfonza Roach and wife Jetty of Shallotte; a sister, Cecelia Faye Smith and fiance Dennis Fronk of Supply; niece, Anita DelRe'; nephews, William Lee Roach, Wayne Kelly Roach; three grandchildren, Rhiannon Long-Jones, Renee Rountree McNair and husband, Cecil, and Clinton Allen Rountree and wife, Jessica; and three great-grandchildren, Jacey Nicole Rountree, Natalia Elise (Elly) McNair and Carly Jean Rountree.
Funeral services will be Saturday, May 18, 2013, at 1 p.m. at White Funeral Service Chapel, 3660 Express Dr., Shallotte, with the Rev. Margaret Hockett officiating. Burial will follow in the Silent Grove Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the funeral service on Saturday.
