Marie Elizabeth Furr Thompson, 88, formerly of Stanfield, passed away on Tuesday, Dec. 18, 2012, in Autumn Care of Shallotte.
Mrs. Thompson was born March 23, 1924, in Stanly County to the late Willie Shuford Furr and Naomi "Oma" Elizabeth Sossamon Furr.
She was also preceded in death by her husband, Marvin D. Thompson on June 24, 2007.
The Thompsons lived in Stanfield for many years before moving to Shallotte. Mrs. Thompson worked in quality control at Blaine Hosiery at Locust and was a Sunday school teacher.
The family received friends from 6-8 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 20, at Hartsell Funeral Home in Midland. The funeral service was at 2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 21, with a 30-minute state prior to the service at First Baptist Church in Locust.
The Rev. Kenny Wallace and the Rev. Tommy Ross officiated with burial to follow in the church cemetery.
Survivors include her son, Kenneth "Ken" Thompson of Supply; and her sister, Willie Chadwick of Ocala, Fla.
