Melinda (Hudgins) Adams

Melinda Hudgins Adams passed away peacefully with her family at her side on Saturday, Oct. 27, 2012.
Melinda is survived by her devoted husband of 42 wonderful years, John; daughters, Alison (husband Mike) and Lindsay (husband Alan); precious granddaughters, Ella and Tresa; brother, Tom (wife Lynne); and sister, Jean.
Melinda was born in Charlotte in 1944 to the late Tom and Jean Hudgins.
She is a 1962 graduate of Myers Park High School, a 1966 graduate of Coker College, and earned her MEd from William and Mary in 1969.
As a guidance counselor in the Newport News, Va., School System for several years, she made a lasting impression on many of her high school students. Following the birth of her children, she dedicated her life to her husband and family.
She was blessed to spend the last year of her life at Ocean Isle Beach with her husband, overlooking a broad relaxing expanse of salt marsh and the ocean.
A memorial celebrating her life was at 1 p.m. Friday, Nov. 2, at Francis Chapel at Myers Park United Methodist Church. A reception followed in Jubilee Hall after the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the American Lung Association, at 514 Daniels Street, No. 109, Raleigh, NC 27605.
