Ronald James "Hank" Hayes

Ronald "Hank" James Hayes, 76, of Carolina Shores, passed away on Sunday, Dec. 2, 2012, at Grand Strand Regional Medical Center, Myrtle Beach, S.C.
He was born on Feb. 4, 1936, in Rochester, N.Y., the son of the late George and Mary Ginegaw Hayes.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Suzanne Hayes; and a brother, Daniel Hayes.
Mr. Hayes was honorably discharged from New York National Guard, also a veteran of the United States Army and the United States Air Force as a cryptographer in Frankfort, Germany.
He was a member of the VFW Post 7288 of Calabash, and a lifetime member of BPO Elks 2679 also of Calabash.
He was affiliated with the Town of Greece Police and the Monroe County Sheriff's Department as a detective until his retirement in Rochester, N.Y.
Surviving are his wife of 51 years, Karoline Z. Hayes of the home; a son, Robert James Hayes and wife Sherry of Lexington; a sister, Mary Anne Hamill of Rochester, N.Y.; two grandchildren, Justin Purkey and James Hayes of Lexington.
A private Mass of the resurrection will take place at a later date in Rochester, N.Y.
