Shirley Pierce

Shirley Pierce, 86, of Whiting, N.J., passed away peacefully on Thursday, Feb. 7, 2013, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born Shirley Hill on March 15, 1926, in Manhattan, N.Y., where she was raised in Hells Kitchen.
She relocated to Hazlet, N.J., in there for 30 years before retiring to Ocean Isle Beach.
She returned to New Jersey seven years ago and happily resided at The Pines Courtyard in Whiting, N.J.
Shirley was a parishioner of St. Joseph's Church in Keyport, N.J.
Shirley's greatest joy in life was being a mother to 10 children.
She was predeceased by her parents, John and Sylvia (Waters) Hill; her beloved husband, John Pierce; her brothers and sister, Billy, John and Marie Hill; and her son-in-law, George Heckelmann.
Shirley is survived by her loving children, Carol Heckelmann of Lakewood, N.J., John Pierce II and his wife Susan of Salem, Ore., Michael Pierce of Yorktown Heights, N.Y., Marie Mancini and her husband Anthony of Holmdel, N.J., Eileen Pierce of New York City, N.Y., David Pierce of Middletown, N.J., Peggy Pierce and her husband Jim Roth of Landenberg, Pa., Chris Pierce of Wappingers Falls, N.Y., Patricia Donnelly and her husband Kevin of Freehold, N.J., and Maureen Pierce of Englishtown, N.J.
Shirley is also survived by her brother, Walter Hill and his wife Dottie of Ocean Isle; her 10 grandchildren, John Pierce III, Laura Pierce-Cummings, Sarah Mancini, Lia Zepeda, Shaina Pierce, Ryan Mancini, Brianna Donnelly, Shannon Donnelly, Matthew Pierce and William Eby; along with her six great-grandchildren, John Pierce IV, Alexii Pierce, Courtney Pierce, Amethyst Pierce, Cameron Cummings and Caiden Cummings.
She will be sadly missed, but never forgotten.
In respect of Shirley's wishes, she will be privately cremated.
A memorial Mass will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 23, at St. Joseph's Church, 376 Maple Place, Keyport, N.J. Interment will follow at St. Joseph's Cemetery in Keyport, N.J.
In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Shirley can be made to Project Paul, 211 Carr Ave., Keansburg, NJ.
