Alfred Owen "A.O." King, 97, of Sunset Beach, died Saturday, Sept. 22, 2012, at his home.

He was born June 11, 1915, in South Boston, Va., to Alfred Owen King Sr. and Elizabeth Hodges King.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 74 years, Clauda Bell King; a sister and two brothers.
He is survived by a son, Wray O. King and wife Janie of Sunset Beach; three grandchildren, Michael King, Jay King and wife Sue, and Ginger K. Williams and husband Kevin; four great-grandchildren, Savannah King, Dillon King, Tayler Williams and Trevis Williams; a sister, Elizabeth K. Rollins; and several nieces and nephews.
Mr. King served in the U.S. Army in North Africa during World War II. Upon his return, he resumed his career in the tobacco warehouse business, operating warehouses in Whiteville and Mebane.
In 1968, he founded King & King Builders Inc. of Sunset Beach. He retired from the tobacco warehouse business in 1984 and from the building business in 2000. He was a Mason and a Shriner.
A celebration of life was set for 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 26 in Brunswick Funeral Service Chapel by the Rev. John Causey, the Rev. Mitchell Wray and Mr. Steve Wray.
Entombment was set to follow in Brunswick Memorial Gardens Mausoleum.
