Annie Russ Phelps Sellers, 89, of Supply died Saturday, Feb. 3, 2018, at the Lower Cape Fear Hospice & LifeCareCenter, Wilmington.
Mrs. Sellers was born in Brunswick County on Dec. 14, 1928, and was the daughter of the late Jessie and Miriam Little Russ. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Aldreth Phelps, and her second husband, David Sellers. She worked for the Brunswick County Board of Elections for many years on election days and received an award for her dedicated service and not missing an election for 50 years. She was a member of Prospect Baptist Church for 69 years.
She is survived by her two children, Donna Phelps of Carolina Shores and Hal Phelps of the home; two stepchildren, Wayne Sellers and Kathy Bunn of Bladen County; a very special niece, Linda Phelps of Wilmington; and a very special friend, Robin McKeithan of Shallotte.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 6, at Prospect Baptist Church on Makatoka Road in Supply with the Revs. Robert McClain and Clayton Rivenbark officiating. Interment followed in Prospect Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Barry Linkous, Frankie Stanley, Lynn Gause, Bobby Ray Perdue, Al McMillian and Dennis Nealy.
A time of visitation with the family was held one hour prior to the service at the church and other times at the home of her daughter, Donna Phelps.
In lieu of customary remembrances, the family requests that memorials be directed in Annie's name to Lower Cape Fear Hospice & LifeCareCenter, 1414 Physicians Drive, Wilmington, NC 28401.
