Charles "Charlie" Carter Kirchenbauer, 91, passed away on Tuesday, Aug. 14, 2012, at Loris Community Hospital in Loris, S.C.
According to his wishes Mr. Kirchenbauer will be cremated. No services are scheduled.
He was born on Oct. 22, 1920, in Toledo, Ohio, the son of Charles A. and Myrtle (Stone) Kirchenbauer.
Charles earned a bachelor of science degree in chemical engineering with honors from Purdue University.
Following his graduation he worked for General Electric Company, Schenectady.
In 1948 he moved back to Toledo where he ran a painting contracting business for his uncle. In 1961 he moved to New Jersey where he worked as a civilian employee for Department of Army at Picatinny Arsenal for 23 years. After retiring in 1984 he and his wife moved to Calabash.
Charles is survived by his wife of 46 years, Delphine Kirchenbauer; two daughters, Karen Paffrath and Donna Jean Brown: two sons, Darrell Kirchenbauer and wife Debbie, and Daniel Kirchenbauer and wife Karen; three granddaughters, Corrie Nijakowski and husband Nick, Danielle Kirchenbauer, and Lisa Kirchenbauer: six grandsons, Wayne Brown, Kevin Brown and wife Eairon, Christopher Paffrath and wife Meredyth, Jasper Kirchenbauer, Robert Kirchenbauer, and Adam Kirchenbauer; six great-granddaughters; and three great-grandsons.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
