Donald (Don) Leon Carson, 77, of Supply passed in peace at home with his family Friday, Nov. 23, 2018. He will be deeply missed and cherished always.
Don was born Dec. 7, 1940, in Surry County. He was a follower of Jesus Christ and a very hardworking man for many years. He owned and operated A-1 Hitch and Trailer sales of Supply for 30 years and most recently Carson Trailer Manufacturing Inc. of Winnabow. He was an avid car enthusiast and a big racecar fan that loved NASCAR, especially the M&M car. He enjoyed gardening and spending time at home with his wife, children, and grandchildren. Don was also known for his big heart. He cared deeply for those less fortunate than himself. He was preceded in death by parents, Romney Lee and Mable Frances George Carson, and son Ritchie Carson.
Don loved his family and is survived in the home by his wife and best friend of 25 years, Cheryl Winans Carson; son, Austin Carson; granddaughter, Katie Carson; and his beloved dogs, Baby "His Nurse" and Lexi. Don is also survived by daughter, Donna ( Greg ) Kesterson of Concord; son, Billy Winans of Wilmington; son, Danny ( Sierra ) Winans of Portland, Ore.; son Nick ( Betsy ) Edwards of Westfield; sisters, Betty Hudson of Pilot Mountain, Kay ( Ronnie ) Chamblin of Pilot Mountain, Rita ( Wayne ) Willard of Mount Airy, and Annette Carson of Mount Airy; brother, Jimmy ( Carol ) Carson of Ararat; mother-in-law, Evelyn (Gregory - deceased) Reillo of Sunset Beach; grandchildren, Ben (Jake) Kesterson of Charlotte, Hailee ( Michael ) Hargett of Charlotte, Ben (Jaime) Carson of Bolivia, Josh Carson of Leland, Moriah Cockerham of Concord, Jacob Carson of Bolivia, Morgan Cockerham of Concord, Alyssa Carson of Leland and Sasha Carson of Leland; along with many nieces and nephews.
A time of visitation and celebrating Don's life will be held from 5 to 7 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 29, at White Funeral Home & Crematory, Bolivia/Supply Chapel, at 603 Ocean Highway E., Bolivia, NC 28422.
A graveside service and burial will be at 1 p.m., Saturday, Dec.1, at Big Creek Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery in Francisco, 1020 Big Creek Church Road, Westfield, NC 27053.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the people at Lower Cape Fear Hospice in Bolivia for their loving care and support during his final days. Also the family would like to extend their sincerest gratitude toward White Funeral Home & Crematory and Cox-Needham Funeral Home in Pilot Mountain for being very accommodating and understanding during this difficult time.
