This is a tribute to Etha Mae Galloway Robinson, a virtuous woman who knew that it is better to give than to receive. Her gifts of hospitality and unselfish love were the benefits that all who knew her received. She was truly a Proverbs 31 woman. Her example of wife, mother, nanny, sister and friend were witnessed by so many and the very fortunate ones who were privileged to sit at "Nanny's kitchen table." These know of her talents and love that were shared by her and Daddy, as they served the multitude collards, cornbread and Elroy's special ribs over and over again! No reservations were ever needed. In fact, you were required to eat when you entered the door!!!
She was born Oct. 10, 1931, to Thomas and Ida Galloway whom she honored as long as they lived. She was preceded in death also by her loving and devoted husband of 62 years, Elroy. She is survived by a sister, Helen, and preceded in death by six sisters, Zettie, Evalena, Effie, Castille, Lyda and Hallie; and a brother, Elbert.
She is survived by two daughters, Linda (David) Kanoy and Carol (James) Carlisle; four grandchildren, Brett (Julie) Fulford, Chris Fulford, Caroline (John) Sauls and Jonathan (Nina) Carlisle; and two great-grandchildren, Kailey Carlisle and Gabriel Sauls. These were her six "Little Darlings."
Funeral services were held at 4 p.m. Sunday, June 10, at New Life Christian Fellowship, 2162 Stone Chimney Road, Supply, with Pastor Bobby Norton and Greg Norris officiating and also a time for anyone to share special remembrances.
Interment followed in Brunswick Memorial Gardens.
Friends were invited to a time of visitation with the family one hour prior to the service at the church and other times at the home of James and Carol Carlisle.
Serving as active pallbearers were Brett Fulford, Chris Fulford, Jonathan Carlisle, John Sauls, John Perry Robinson and Jabin Norris. Honorary pallbearers were Ray Kirby, Josh Kirby, Debbie Vinson, Phillip Robinson, Lois Caison, Mike McCumbee, Adam McCumbee, Terrence Galloway, Eric Zettlemoyer, Mitchell Hewett, Augusta Singletary, Nolan Galloway and Roberta Grissett.
In lieu of flowers, the family request memorials be directed to Lower Cape Fear Hospice for the SECU Hospice House of Brunswick, 1414 Physicians Drive, Wilmington, NC 28401.
