Eva McGee Benton, 90, of Leland, died Sunday, Feb. 2, 2014, at Silver Stream Health and Rehabilitation Center in Wilmington.

She was born June 22, 1923, in Eagle Rock, the daughter of the late D.Y. and Arie Ann Parrish McGee. She was preceded in death by her husband, George Franklin Benton; a daughter, Ellen Daly; a grandson, Jeffrey Potter; and a granddaughter, Diane Britt.
Surviving are two daughters, Velma Britt (James) and Pat Potter; seven grandchildren, Paul Alden (Angela), Frankie Britt (Shannon), Misty Roohi (Mark), Donna Brown (Russell), Deano Potter (Anne), Beverly Mallard (Ronnie) and Melinda Clark; sixteen great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren; and her lifelong best friend, Viola Shew.
Mrs. Benton was a lifelong member of Shiloh United Methodist Church, where she was involved in many church activities and functions. Always known for her "wonderful cakes and hot biscuits," Mrs. Benton will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
The family received friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 4, at Andrews Mortuary Market Street Chapel.
A funeral service was held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 5, at Shiloh United Methodist Church with the Revs. William Pearsall, Jerry Clark and Judy Billings officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery.
Pallbearers were Dylan Brown, Matthew Roohi, Andrew Roohi, Nick Mallard, Chris Kerns and Jason Kerns. Honorary pallbearers were Frankie Britt, Paul Alden, Russell Brown, Deano Potter, Ronnie Mallard and Mark Roohi.
