Frances T. Messick, 91, passed peacefully Wednesday, Nov. 29, 2017, from heart failure at the SECU Hospice House of Brunswick in Bolivia.
Frances, daughter of Hyter and Bernice Thomas, grew up in Richmond, Va., and was employed as a secretary at different businesses, including the Augusta, Ga., chapter of the American Red Cross. She and her late husband, Arthur Simmons Messick, married 61 years, raised their family in North Augusta, S.C., and built a family vacation home, "The Pearl" at Ocean Isle Beach where she swam daily and walked the beach. When in North Augusta, she enjoyed volunteering at University Hospital.
She is survived by sons, Thomas Arthur Messick (Doddie) and Kirk Simmons Messick (Jo Beth); daughters, Sylvia Lois Messick and Jo Ann Messick; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
The family will celebrate her life Thursday, Dec. 7, at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Richmond. Condolences may be shared at www.whitefuneralservicesupply.com.
