Franklin Anthony Re, 64, of Calabash, died Sunday, Sept. 16, 2012, in Grand Strand Healthcare, Myrtle Beach, S.C.
Mr. Re was born Oct. 21, 1947, in Jersey City, N.J., to the late Charles and Carmella Pace Re.
He answered his nation's call and served as a sergeant in the U.S. Army, 1st Infantry Division, during Vietnam. During his time in the Army he received the Bronze Star, three Army Commendation medals, one of those with valor.
Surviving are his wife, Barbara Re; a son, Matthew C. Re of Clark, N.J.; a daughter, Jennifer Re Rocco, of Cranford, N.J.; two brothers, Bernard Re of Independence, N.J., and Richard Re of Franklin, N.J.; a sister, Bernadette Wargo of Wernersville, Pa.; and two grandchildren.
Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 4, in the Chapel of Brunswick Funeral Service in Shallotte.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in his name to Incare Home Health and Hospice, 4685 Hwy. 17 Bypass, Myrtle Beach, SC 29577.
