Joan Helen Woolnough, 85, of Calabash, died Monday, Aug. 19, 2013, at the SECU Hospice House of Brunswick, Bolivia.
She was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., on May 25, 1928, the daughter of late Alexander and Gertrude H. Anastasi.
Mrs. Woolnough was a member of the Hempstead United Methodist Church in Hempstead, N.Y. She was a member of the Eastern Star, member of the Calabash Veteran of Foreign Wars Post 7288 Ladies Auxiliary.
Surviving are her husband of 66 years, Donald Albert Woolnough; three daughters, Lynne Fox and husband, Edward, of Calabash, Jill Hourigan and husband, Chris, of San Jose, Calif., and Donna Sotomayor and husband, Eddie, of Raleigh; a brother Alexander Anastasi and wife, Betty, of Long Island, N.Y.; a sister, Barbara Anastasi, also of Calabash; and two grandchildren, Anastasia Baratta, and Isabelle Sotomayor.
Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 21, at Seaside United Methodist Church with the Revs. Scott and Mary Jane Wilson-Parsons officiating.
Interment will follow in Brunswick Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends an hour prior to the service at the church.
