Kerry "Putt" Clinton Pennell, Sr., 47, of Ash, died Wednesday, July 4, 2012. Kerry was born on March 12, 1965, in Brunswick, Maine, the son of Gloria Witherspoon Pennell, of Southport, and the late Eugene L. Pennell. In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Cathy Long Cortes; son, Clint Pennell, of Shallotte; daughters Shallon Stewart and husband (Cory) of Shallotte, Kristina Cortes, Jessica Cortes, and Maria Cortes, all of Ash; two brothers, Geno Pennell, of Ocean Isle Beach, and Duane Toothaker, of Orrs Island, Maine, and three grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted at 4 p.m. on Sunday, July 8, at Emmanuel Outreach Church by the Rev. Ron Capps and Rev. Donnie Jones. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
