Mary Kathryn Canady Bullington, 87, of Oak Island, went to be with her Lord and Savior Monday evening, Aug. 4, 2014. She was born May 23, 1927, and was the daughter of the late Carson Fredrick Canady Sr. and Dora Smith Canady. She was preceded in death by her son, William "Billy" Thomas Bullington Jr.; her three brothers, Carson Jr., Eugene and Doug; one sister, Doris Lundy; and two great-grandchildren, Jasmine and Nathan.
The Celebration of Life will be conducted at noon Friday, Aug. 8, at the Ocean Isle Beach Chapel with the Rev. John Chase officiating. Burial will follow in the Brunswick Memorial Gardens, 5229 Ocean Highway W., Shallotte.
Mary Kathryn first and foremost loved the Lord and her family. She was adored by her beloved husband of 65 years. There was no other mom like her. She was a fabulous cook and enjoyed cooking for others and therefore was an instrumental part of Casey's Catering for many years. She was also involved in decorating speculation homes for Jane and Charles' construction business where the homes and decorating received awards. She also enjoyed working with her hands, gardening and always gathering her family around her, which included her sons-in-law, who she loved like her own.
She is survived by her husband of 65 years, William "Bill" Thomas Bullington Sr.; four daughters, Dorothea Jane Bullington Fox and husband, Charles, of Ocean Isle Beach, Sandra Kaye Bullington Harris and husband, John, of Fayetteville, Pamela Lynne Bullington VanHerpen and husband, Ken, of Colorado and Martha Jeanne Bullington Casey and husband, Craig, of Princeton; two sisters, Grace Louise "Wessie" Canady and Joan Sessoms and husband, Bill; nine grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
The family will be receiving friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 7, at Casey Funeral Home in Princeton.
