Robert Taylor Smith, 78, of Southport died Thursday, Nov. 30, 2017, at the SECU Hospice House of Brunswick. He was born July 23, 1939.
Survivors include his wife, Gale Davis Smith of the home; daughter, Angela M. Smith Stewart of Fort Mill, S.C.; stepdaughter, Samantha Butts of Buies Creek; and two grandchildren.
A celebration of Robert's life will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 7, at Trinity United Methodist Church, 209 E. Nash St., Southport, with a reception to follow in the fellowship hall.

Such a good man, kind and thoughtful and personable and generous. He had a dry sense of humor and an appetite for good food. And anyone who's a Tar Heel fan is a friend of mine. We're going to miss Robert.
