Mr. Samuel Thomas Inman, 82, of Shallotte died peacefully, Thursday, Aug. 15, 2013, at New Hanover Regional Medical Center surrounded by his family.
Mr. Inman was born in Brunswick County on July 5, 1931, and was a son of the late Franklin D. and Madge Grant Inman. He was a salesman in the building supply industry for many years. He was a former alderman with the town of Shallotte. He was preceded in death by four brothers: Homer Inman, Aaron Inman, Howard Inman, Lloyd Inman.
He is survived by his wife, Edna S. Inman; four children, Thomas Inman and wife Sue of Ash, Allen Inman and wife Shaina of Holden Beach, Debbie Long and husband Pat of Ash, Theresa Register and husband Mark of Ash; grandchildren, Heath Inman and wife Tiffanie, Brian Inman and wife Ashley, Shanetta Wood and husband Steve, Jeffery Inman, Ashlie Long; great-grandchildren, Madison Wood, Aerial Inman, Theodore Wood, Austin Inman, Isabella Wood, Brayden Inman, Kaitlyn Rea, Bridgette Anspaugh; great-great-grandchild, Annabella Todd; sister, Annie Vance of Whiteville; twin brother, Silas Inman of Tabor City, Boyd Inman of Ash, George Inman of Ash.
Funeral services were at 3 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 18, at Calvary Baptist Church with the Rev. Joe Needham and the Rev. Charlie Smith officiating. Burial followed in Bill Inman Cemetery, Ash.
Pallbearers were Heath Inman, Brian Inman, Jeffery Inman, Steve Wood, Harry Inman and Charles Inman. Honorary pallbearers were Lynn Gause, Rodney Gause, David Gause, Jim Watson, Dudley King, Roscoe Warren, Mike Schaffers, Richard Hallman and Kenny Inman.
The family received friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 16, at White Funeral Service, 3660 Express Drive, Shallotte, and other times from the home.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be made to SECU Hospice House, Brunswick Facility 955 Mercy Lane, Bolivia, NC 28422 or to the American Diabetes Association, 1701 N. Beauregard St., Alexandria, VA 22311
The family would like to express their appreciation to Dr. James McCabe and Dr. Peter Wiegman and the staff of Autumn Care Nursing Center of Shallotte and the staff of New Hanover Regional Medical Center for their excellent care given to Mr. Inman during his time of illness.
