Thomas Edward Thompson Jr., 72, of Brunswick Plantation, Calabash, formerly of Worcester, Mass., died Thursday, Oct. 10, 2013.

Born in Worcester, Mass., Jan. 5, 1941, he was a son of the late Thomas E. Thompson Sr. and Gertrude Dailey Thompson. After high school, Tom graduated from Assumption College of Worcester, served in the U.S. Army and later retired from the Office of Personnel Management in Washington, DC. After moving to Brunswick Plantation, he became a member and was instrumental in the organization and construction of St. Brendan the Navigator Roman Catholic Church, having served on the building committee and was also in the choir.
Surviving are his loving wife of 47 years, Mary E. Thompson; three sons, Kevin Michael Thompson, of Warrenton, Va., Kenneth Mark Thompson of Calabash, Keith Matthew Thompson of Dumfries, Va.; a daughter, Kristine Caudle and husband Michael of Bristow, Va.; a brother, James Charles Thompson and wife Christine of Young Harris, Ga.; a sister, Priscilla Underwood of Worcester, Mass.; and three grandchildren, Brittany, Brooke and Kyle Caudle.
A funeral Mass was celebrated Tuesday, Oct. 15, at St. Brendan the Navigator Roman Catholic Church. Inurnment followed in the church columbarium.
