Thomas Henry Koester, 89, formerly of Pittsburgh, died Monday, June 16, 2014, surrounded by his loving family.
He was a World War II U.S. Navy veteran and an Omaha Beach D-Day survivor.
He was a much loved father to his daughters, Linda Heyl (Jim) and Diane White (Michael), both of Calabash; "Pap" to three grandchildren; "G.G." to three great-grandchildren; and brother to Donald Koester. He is preceded in death by his wife, Marie and grandson, Terry.
Services will be private with the family.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Lower Cape Fear Hospice & LifeCareCenter for the SECU Hospice House of Brunswick, 1414 Physicians Drive, Wilmington, NC 28401.
