Victor J. Dagata Jr., 69, of Calabash, formerly of Southington, Conn., died Friday, July 26, 2013, following a lengthy illness.

Born in New Britain, Conn., on Aug. 19, 1943, he was a son of the late Victor J. Dagata Sr. and Helen Bingiel. Mr. Dagata was retired from General Electric with 42 years of service. He was a member of Pequabuck Golf Club of Terryville, Conn., River Hills Golf & Country Club of Little River, S.C., and St. Brendan's Catholic Church, Shallotte.
Surviving are his loving wife of 47 years, Janet Dagata; two sons, Victor J. Dagata III, and wife, Jenna, of Newington, Conn., Michael Dagata and wife, Kathleen, of Southington, Conn.; two brothers, Martin Dagata and wife, Sada, of Alexandria, Va., Jeffrey Dagata and wife, Jane, of Plainville, Conn.; two sisters, Diane Kraut and husband, Charles, of Newington, Conn., Ellen Jones and husband, David, of Carolina Shores; a brother-in-law, Jeffrey Zabel of Springfield, Mass.; five grandchildren, Christopher, Jordan, Morgan, Abby and Coby; and a host of nieces and nephews.
A mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 6, at St. Brendan's Catholic Church. Inurnment will follow in the church columbarium. A memorial service will be conducted at a later date in Connecticut.
