William Earl "Wild Bill" Garris, 70, of Winnabow passed away Thursday, Jan. 4, 2018.
"Wild Bill" as he was fondly known, was born in Morgan County, Ohio, on June 9, 1947, to the late William Jesse and Hannah Susan Nichols Garris. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Junior Garris, and a sister, Sarah Rittler. He was the owner and operator of his own construction company. Bill possessed a God-given talent to play music on several instruments as well as sing. He was a member of two bands, "Facin' South" and "Billy G & the Soundwaves" for many years and played for Bob Hope when he was only 4 years old.
Survivors include his loving wife, Judith "Judy" Garris; three daughters, Kimberly Robeson of Holden Beach, Delisa Nelson and husband, Russell, of Vermillion, Ohio, and Ferren Rittenhour and husband, John, of Saginaw, Mich.; and two sons, Charles Hupp and wife, Jeri, of Marion, Ohio, and Kevin Fridley and wife, Tabatha, of Cardington, Ohio; 10 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a wonderful friend, Tena McMillan of Holden Beach.
Local memorial services were private and a celebration of life will be held at a later date in Ohio.
