The Rev. William B. "Bill" Greer Jr.


The Rev. William B. "Bill" Greer Jr., 89, of Shallotte, died Thursday, Jan. 24, 2013, in Autumn Care of Shallotte.
Born in Philadelphia, Pa., on Nov. 26, 1923, he was a son of the late William B. and Margaret Sophia Bauer Greer.
The Rev. Greer served in the 95th Infantry, U.S. Army during World War II where he received two Bronze Stars.
Survivors include his wife, Lee Z. Greer; daughter, Barbara Holden of Shallotte; four sons, Billy Greer of Shallotte, Alan Kurt Greer of Elizabethtown, Timothy Lee Greer of Hendersonville, and Mark J. Greer of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; a sister, Margaret Elaine Greer, of Lima, Pa.; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.
Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Monday, Jan. 28, in the Old Shallotte Baptist Church with the Rev. Landis Lancaster, the Rev. Jim Whitworth and the Rev. Tom Gore officiating.
Interment followed in Jennies Branch Baptist Church Cemetery with military honors.
