Virginia Lee Bechtold, 95, died March 6, 2014, in Brush, Colorado.
Virginia was born September 1, 1918, in Stephens County, Texas to John Ad and Maude Lea (Maxwell) Simmons.
She graduated from high school in Post, Texas. She later graduated from Texas Tech in Lubbock, Texas with a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration.
Virginia Married Carl W. Bechtold on June 4, 1939, in Abilene, Texas.
She was a member of the Trinity Baptist Church in Brush. Virginia loved flowers and would take various varieties to national flower shows. She was also chosen to judge flower shows at the national level.
Virginia Lee had two children in Lubbock Texas, one in Alabama and two in Lakewood, Colorado before becoming a Technical Writer for the U. S. Geological Survey. She spent two years as a Christian Missionary in Liberia, West Africa. Upon her return, she and Carl lived in Fountain Hills, Arizona from 1985 until 2000 when they moved back to Colorado.
Carl and Virgina moved to Brush in 2010 and resided at the Arbor Apartments at Eben-Ezer.
Virginia Lee is survived by her husband Carl, her five children, Carl W. Jr. (Jean), Nancy Lee Vardell (Woody), Frances Jane, Mary Alice Stahley (Charlie), and John Ad (Mary). She had 15 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her siblings, J.A., Horace, John Frank, Don Simmons, and Frances Gammon.
A Celebration of Life will be Monday, March 10, 2014, at 10 a.m. at the Heer Mortuary, 222 Cameron in Brush.
Interment will follow in the Merino Cemetery, in Merino.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in Virginia Lee's honor to Gideon's International.
