Alvin L. West, 80, of Greeley, CO formerly of Simla, went to be with his Lord and Savior on February 11, 2014, in Greeley, CO.|
He was born July 26, 1933, in Calhan, CO, to Leslie and Pearl (Sinison) West.
Alvin lived in Simla and Iliff, CO. Al served in the United States Army and Navy and then enjoyed being a farmer and truck driver for many years. He loved anything John Deere and his collection of pigs. His favorite saying was "pumphandle".
He is survived by his wife, Waunetta of Greeley; sons, Rodney (Stacy) of Aurora, CO, Phillip of Alma, MI, Steve (Melanie) of Elizabeth, CO; daughter, Cheryl (David) Byrne of White Plains, MD; sisters, Della, Loretta, and Rudy; brothers Lyle, Marvin, Edwin, Kenneth, Leon, Darrell and Larry stepdaughters, Connie (Clarence) Acklam of Thornton, CO, Christy (Pete) Rhea of Denver, CO, Pam (Ed) Chilcott of Greeley, Diana (Keith) Norris of Box Elder, SD; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, aunts and uncles.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Leslie and Pearl; sister, Leona; stepson, Wayne and his beloved pets, Peaches, Skeeterbug and Yeller.
He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
Memorial services will be held at Emmanuel Baptist Church, 300 Ballpark Road, Sterling, CO, on Wednesday, February 19, 2014 at 1 p.m.
