Billy Eugene Griggs, 69, longtime area resident, died Tuesday, October 22, 2013, at the North Colorado Medical Center in Greeley. |
He was born February 15, 1944 in Brush, to Clyde and Thelma (Brunkhardt) Griggs.
Billy served his country in the United States Army. He enlisted in 1963 and during his hitch he was stationed in Vietnam, Germany, Italy, Panama, and Fort Huachuca, Arizona. Billy retired from the Army in 1987 as an E-8 Master Sergeant.
He married Deborah Lowery on February 4, 1981 in the Republic of Panama.
Billy was a member of the American Legion. He enjoyed camping, and studying the Bible. He loved his family and they were very important to him.
Survivors include his wife, Deborah of Brush; his daughters, Ranata Granzella and husband, Roger, of Phoenix, AZ, Keta Hyatt and husband, Robert, of Virginia Beach Virginia, Jessica Schilling and husband, Marty, of Brush; sons, Christopher Griggs and wife, Stephaine, of Brush, Jacob Fechter of Brush, and Bradly Quillen and wife, Chelsea, of Greeley; one brother, Russell Griggs and wife, Anne, of Hillrose and eight grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Katie Griggs, a grandson, Joshuah Atkins, and his parents.
There will be a visitation on Friday, October 25, 2013, from 4 until 7 p.m. at the Heer Mortuary in Brush.
A funeral service will be Saturday, October 26, 2013, at 11 a.m. at the All Saints Lutheran Church at Eben-Ezer in Brush.
Services will conclude at the church.
The Heer Mortuary in Brush is in charge of the arrangements.
