Catherine (Held) Knaus Obituary
Catherine Knaus of Greeley, was a New Year's baby in 1914 - a new baby in the New World on New Year's Day. She was the third child of German-Russian immigrants, Henry and Catherine Held, who journeyed to Windsor, CO, from Russia while she was in the womb.
Catherine died at age 99 on December 12, 2013, in Greeley, CO.
Catherine married Robert Knaus in Windsor on January 25, 1935, and farmed with their three children in Windsor, Greeley, Snyder, and Hillrose, CO. In addition to farming, she worked at Sunset Manor in Brush, CO, as a therapist for several years and taught Sunday school in church.
After retirement Catherine and Robert lived in Brush and Fort Morgan before moving to Fort Lupton in 1996.
Catherine enjoyed watching the Broncos and loved fishing and going to Rockies games. But more than that, she loved Jesus, her family, and cooking German food for them at family gatherings.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Robert, two brothers, one sister, a son-in-law and one grandson.
She is survived by a sister, Katie Hoff of Greeley; a daughter, Lorna Young of Greeley; a son Robert W. and wife Jolene of Casper, WY; and a son, Stanley and wife Joy of Kevil, KY; 11 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and, five great-great-grandchildren.
A funeral service to celebrate Catherine's life will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, December 21, 2013, at the Moser Funeral Service Chapel, 3501 S. 11th Avenue in Evans.
Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to Hospice of Northern Colorado.
