John Victor Roberts, 96, passed away Friday evening, April 12, 2013, at Valley View Villa Nursing Home in Fort Morgan.
He was born February 23, 1917, in Bertrand, NE, to Victor and Elizabeth Roberts.
The Roberts family moved to Julesburg, CO when John was 16.
In 1939, John married Anna Mae Armbruster, a union that lasted over 72 years. The couple moved to Crook, CO where they farmed for 40 years. They later retired and became very active in the Brush Senior Citizens and the Rankin Presbyterian Church.
In 2011, after Anna died, John moved to the Beehive Assisted Living Center in Fort Morgan until health issues forced him to go to Valley View Villa a few days before his death.
Survivors include his children, Sheree Amen Price, and her husband Robert of Woodland Park, CO; Jim Roberts, and his wife, Judy of Crook; Dennis Roberts, and his wife Linda of Longmont, CO,, John Roberts Jr., and his wife Shirley of Ulysses, KS, and Vernon Roberts, and his wife, Margie of Fort Morgan; one brother, Leonard Roberts of Holyoke; 18 grandchildren and 34 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, an infant daughter, Virginia; a son-in-law, Leland Amen formerly of Crook; daughters-in-law, Joan Roberts and Becky Roberts, both formerly of Fort Morgan; and a great0grandson, Matt Stieb of Sterling, CO; one brother, two sisters, and his parents.
A private family memorial service will be held at a later date at the Brush Memorial Cemetery. The Heer Mortuary & Crematory was entrusted with the cremation arrangements.
