Mary Ann Walter, 89, longtime Morgan County resident, passed away Friday evening, November 8, 2013, at the East Morgan County Hospital in Brush.

She was born February 26, 1924 in Gilcrest, CO, to Henry and Anna Brening.
The Brening family moved to Brush in 1931. Mary Ann graduated from Brush High School in 1941.
She married Victor E. Walter on May 20, 1945 in Brush. The Walter family lived in the Wiggins community from 1946 until 1962 when they moved to Steamboat Springs. In 1967 they moved to Estes Park. Victor passed away on November 8, 1971. Mary Ann continued living in Estes Park until 1979 when she moved to Glendale, AZ.
In 2006 she moved back to Brush.
Mary Ann was a member of the Immanuel Congregational Church and after moving to Tabor Apartments at Eben Ezer Lutheran Care Center in Brush, CO., she often attended All Saints Lutheran Church.
Survivors include her children, Gene and his wife, Christine Walter, of Surprise, AZ and Judith Sherrod and her husband, Donald, of Steamboat Springs; one brother, Charles Brening and his wife, Virginia, of Sun City, AZ; five grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandson. She is also survived by her sisters-in-law, Mable Brening of Brush, Gladys Brisco of VA, and Mary Ann Fyler of Denver.
She was preceded in death by her husband, one daughter, Ardith Ann; one sister, Helen Kauffman; two brothers, Harold Brening, and George Brening and her parents.
A graveside service and inurnment will be Friday, November 15, 2013, at 11 a.m. at the Brush Memorial Cemetery Interment Chapel.
Friends who wish may make memorial gifts to the Women's Fellowship at the Immanuel Congregational Church in Brush.
