Vernon "Bud" Headley, 84, of Brush, passed away Sunday, December 1, 2013, at the East Morgan County Hospital in Brush.
He was born May 29, 1929, on the family ranch near Pawnee Pass in Stoneham – Willard, CO area, to Amos Edgar and Grace Maude (Evans) Headley.
Bud grew up in Stoneham – Willard and Snyder-Hillrose communities, striking out on his own at a very young age.

He was proud to be a veteran of the Korean War. Upon returning home from his military service, Bud ran a gas station in Sterling before beginning a long career in the oilfield and had many stories to share about the DJ Basin.
Bud married Marvin Ann Kirby in the spring of 1956. They set up their home in Fort Morgan for a few years, then returned to bachelorhood in Brush for many years while working in the oilfield and later owning and operating his own lawn service business.
He moved to Bluff, UT, in 1996 where he enjoyed retirement before returning to Brush in September, 2012 for health reasons.
Bud was a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3551 and the Moose Lodge.
He is survived by his son, Lonnie Headley of Laorte, CO; brother, Galen Headley of Bluff, UT, and stepsister Carol (Don) McIsaac of Rye, CO; nephews and nieces as well as several great-nieces and great-nephews.
