On June 30, 2013, the Lord peacefully took Viola Delia Middlemist, 94, into His loving arms at Medallion SNF in Colorado Springs.
She was born February 9, 1919, at home near Deer Trail, CO, to Theodore and Delia (Monahan) Morman.
Viola was the oldest of eight children. She left school after the eighth grade to work to help the family.
Viola married William "Vic" Middlemist on December 11, 1941 in Fort Morgan. They raised four children on the Middlemist Ranch in the Shamrock area just south of Fort Morgan.
Viola was a ranch wife, mother, and grandmother. She was the President of the Colorado Cattlewomen's Association and was part of other organizations such as Eastern Star and Home Demonstration Club. Viola enjoyed water color painting, crocheting, knitting, and loved china painting as well as teaching it. She liked to try most crafts.
Viola is survived by her daughters, Ruby Jaeger (Gary) of Fountain, CO, Carol Angel (Phillip) of Mesa, AZ, her sons, Dayton Middlemist (Sharon) of Council Bluff, IA, Alex Middlemist (Theresa) of Byers, CO, her grandchildren, Tony Middlemist (Denitrea Murphy), Andrew Jaeger (Lee Ann), Daniel Jaeger (Rebecca), Lisa Kauffman (Mike), Jeremy Middlemist (Leslie), Eric Middlemist (Tanya) and Joshua Middlemist, along with 21 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, and her siblings, Betty Sharp, Allen Morman, Leona Chastain and Daniel Morman.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Vic, parents, grandson, Todd J. Middlemist, great-great granddaughter, Eternity Lavonne Middlemist and three brothers, Harold, Edwin, and Arthur Morman.
A memorial service will be Saturday July 20, at 1 p.m. at Heer Mortuary in Fort Morgan, followed with a reception at the Country Steak Out.
Heer Mortuary of Fort Morgan is in charge of the arrangements.
